Welcome to the Park

The park is dedicated to the American veterans who honorably wore the uniform of the United States military. It pays special homage to those who fought and those who died to defend and protect our freedoms. It is intended to encourage young Americans to do the same as those before them.

  Joynell and Larry Raymon

The park setting is intended to create a feeling of peace, serenity, respect, honor and solemn dedication to those who have served and sacrificed that we may remain free.

Park Symbolism

Limestone represents the strength of the American military.

The red border on the sidewalks represents bloodshed in battle.

The gray color on the sidewalks is a reminder of battlefield smoke.

Dedication Plaza is shaped as an octagon representing the eight points of the compass and all American citizens.

The walls on the plaza are designed as arms to reach out to comfort and welcome visitors.

The six bald cypress trees southwest of the gun display building represent an American military patrol just emerging from the tree line.

The M110A2 self-propelled howitzer represents the men, women and equipment used to defend our freedoms.

Plaque Language:

This park is dedicated to the American veterans who honorably wore the uniform of the United States military. It stands as a tribute to all veterans, with respect and honor for those who fought, for those who gave their lives and for those always willing and ready to do as those before them, without question or reserve, when the defense of our freedom calls upon them.

God Bless America
